Hook: Tiemco 2457 - 2xs Scud hook

Size: 18-20

Bead: 1.5 mm

Thread: 8/0 Iron gray

Tail: Krystal Flash or tinsel, single strand

Underbody: 8/0 thread, iron gray

Body: Stripped grizzly hackle stem

Rib: Fine gold wire

Thorax: Natural beaver or Muskrat

Emergent Wing: Hungarian Partridge

Notes: I spend a lot of time sampling rivers. What I found with both Midges and smaller Mayflies was that the bodies are highly segmented and very thin. I was looking for something to do with all the boxes of worked over grizzly hackle necks, so I stripped them and found the stem to be a variant black and white and perfect for the segmented look I was going for.

This fly pattern is excerpted from Fly Fishing the Solitude-Montana.
